Why VIHAN chooses khaki
From global fashion influences to how people actually dress in Vietnam.

Khaki is an interesting fabric. It has a place in many fashion traditions, from American Ivy League dressing and everyday French style to Japan's Ametora culture.
Its silhouettes and uses have changed considerably over the decades. Yet khaki still has a place in both men's and women's wardrobes.
What interests VIHAN most is how much room there is to develop it.
Changing fibre composition, weave construction or finishing can produce entirely different fabrics. Some hold a sharp shape; others are soft and fluid. Some offer a little stretch, while others have surfaces reminiscent of linen or denim.
These differences give designers a much wider range of choices.
Khaki for everyday life in Vietnam
A beautiful fabric is not necessarily right for Vietnamese wearers. The hot, humid climate and the everyday reality of travelling by motorbike create particular demands.
After years of supplying domestic fashion brands, we have found that customers often prefer khaki with a little stretch: enough to sit comfortably on a motorbike and move freely, while still holding its shape.
The surface finish matters too.
Many buyers prefer a relatively smooth, lightly brushed surface. Heavily brushed fabrics can feel wonderfully soft, but may also pick up more dust during daily travel on the road.
Weight, breathability, drape and even how a colour looks in natural daylight also influence fabric selection.
These are not always things you can judge fully from a swatch in a showroom.
VIHAN follows international trends, but selects and develops materials with the way people actually dress in Vietnam firmly in mind.
From research to production
Finding a new trend or an attractive fabric sample is only the beginning.
The more important challenge is turning that sample into consistent production, with reliable colour, delivery times and pricing.
VIHAN's direct relationships with manufacturing partners have been built over years of practical work.
We keep up with new fibres, fabric constructions, finishing methods and colour palettes, selecting suitable materials to develop into collections for the Vietnamese market.
When VIHAN coordinates a production lot, we manage the process from sample approval through to lot-level quality control. Production must follow VIHAN's approved standards and procedures, and an independent team inspects goods before dispatch.
This production network also lets us work with fashion brands to test and develop fabrics for their particular needs.
Why we keep choosing khaki
Consumer taste keeps changing. A colour or silhouette that is popular today may look less relevant a few seasons from now.
But people will still need clothes that look good, feel comfortable and work for everyday life.
We believe there is plenty of room for khaki to evolve, especially as yarn and finishing technologies continue to improve.
VIHAN wants to keep studying those changes, selecting what suits Vietnam and working with our partners to bring new materials into future collections.
That is why khaki continues to matter to VIHAN.
